VMC Setter

Job Description

Responsible for setting up VMC machines with correct tools, fixtures, and programs to enable smooth production, ensuring first-piece accuracy before handing over to operators.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up VMC machines as per job drawings — fixing fixtures, loading tools, and setting tool offsets/work offsets
• Load and verify CNC programs; make minor edits (G-code/M-code) for proper tool path and machining sequence
• Conduct first-piece inspection using measuring instruments (vernier, micrometer, height gauge) to confirm dimensional accuracy before production run
• Select correct cutting tools, speeds, and feeds based on material and job requirements
• Troubleshoot setup-related issues, alarms, and program errors during trial runs
• Coordinate with operators, supervisors, and quality team for smooth job changeovers
• Maintain tool list, offset records, and setup sheets for repeat jobs
• Ensure machine and tooling are maintained properly; report wear/damage to maintenance
• Follow safety protocols and maintain housekeeping (5S) around the machine

Required Qualifications

• ITI (Machinist/CNC) or Diploma in Mechanical/Production Engineering
